FAQs on Radiofrequency Ablation

What is Radiofrequency Ablation?

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) is a minimally-invasive procedure that uses thermal energy to eliminate major varicose veins.  Using local anesthesia, RFA is performed in-office and typically takes one hour to complete.

How Does Radiofrequency Ablation Work?

A thin catheter is inserted directly into the unhealthy vein where thermal heat seals it off, allowing blood supply to be rerouted to healthy veins.

Does Radiofrequency Ablation Hurt?

Although pain is minimal, it can cause some patients to feel temporary numbness, hypersensitivity or burning near their injection site. Recovery from RFA treatment takes just a couple of hours.

How Much Does Radiofrequency Ablation Cost?

RFA is usually covered by insurance. Contact Star Veins & Aesthetics for questions about coverage.
